Abstract
604,700. Spraying-machines. ALLEN & SONS (OXFORD), Ltd., J., and CAUDWELL, P. G. Nov. 30, 1945, No. 32342. [Class 69(iii)] [Also in Group I] The driven cutter of a motor scythe or mower on wheels is replaced by a spraying pump compressor. The plunger 35 of the pump or compressor is directly coupled to the usual actuating rocker 17 of the scythe, the rocker 17 being reciprocated through the usual gear-box 18 driven by a motor 14. The pump is provided with inlet and outlet valves and delivers to a reservoir 31. To the delivery outlet 45, Fig. 3, is attached a fixed spray pipe or pipes or flexible hose 25 delivering to a crop spraying lance 26. The pump plunger 35 is double-ended to work in a pair of opposed cylinders 33, 34, Fig. 4, with valves to correspond as above. The whole pumping arrangement is secured on a bracket 32 coupled to the machine. The fluid is contained in a tank 22 on the machine or on an attached trailer 21.. The spray may be used for, e.g. white-washing, spraying creosote or flamethrowing for clearing or sterilising land. Specification 463,607, [Group I], is referred to.
