Abstract

603,554. Resilient mountings. CAPON HEATON & CO., Ltd., and BOOT, A. Oct. 24, 1945, No. 28105. [Class 108 (iii)] A vibration damper comprises a hollow body part b having a hole in one end and within which is arranged a cylindrical block of rubber a so that an annular space surrounds the cushion and a stem g, h secured to one end of the cushion and passing through the hole and adapted to co-operate with the body part b to limit its range of movement relative to the part b. The stem g, h includes a head f which is bonded to the upper end of the cushion and an electric motor or other part to be supported is bolted to the threaded portion h so that it forms together with the head f means for limiting longitudinal deflection of the cushion by engagement with the portion of the part b surrounding the hole. The diameter of the part g is arranged in relation to the size of the hole to limit lateral deflection. The upper end portion of the part b may be formed by flanging the sides of the part b or by a separate disc c as shown. The lower end of the cushion may be bonded directly to the bottom of the part b or, as shown, may be bonded to a head d having a threaded stem e by which the vibration damper is secured in position.
