Abstract

602,762. Valves for water heaters. PEET, A. Oct. 13, 1945, No. 26838. Addition to 576,682. Drawings to Specification. [Class 135] In a gas-fired water heater according to the parent Specification, the water temperature selector tap can be releasably locked in a position in which the byepass passage is cut off. In an embodiment, a screw inserted in the byepass passage in the casing of the tap engages in a recess in the side of the plug of the tap and prevents the latter from being rotated. The byepass passage in the tap is provided by forming a flat on the side of the plug. To couple the tap spindle to the plug, the spindle is provided either with projections which engage in recesses in the end of the plug, or with a cap-like member which takes over a truncated cone on the end of the plug.
