600,694. Sawtooth amplifying circuits. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Nov. 6, 1945, No. 29548. Convention date, July 13, 1940. [Class 40 (vi)] In a circuit for converting saw-tooth voltage on the grid of a high-resistance tube V into saw-tooth current through deflecting-coils L in the anode circuit, a resistance R is connected in parallel with the coils having a value equal to the square root of L/2C(1 - Cr<2>/2L), where L represents the inductance and r the resistance of the coils, and C represents the capacity, inherent or otherwise, across the coils. In some cases r may be neglected. In Fig. 1, the coils are transformer-coupled to the tube V, but the transformer may be omitted, and the anode current supplied through the resistance R with a blocking-condenser interposed between the resistance R and the coils L. A lower value of resistance R may be used if a negative feed-back resistance R1, Fig. 3, interposed between the coils L and the cathode is also included in the grid circuit. The value of R may then be reduced by the factor 1+SR1, where S is the mutual conductance of the value.
