Abstract

600,489. Inflatable garments. PASK, E. A., FRANKENSTEIN & SONS (MANCHESTER), Ltd., P., and SILVERSTONE, J. Aug. 14,1945, No. 20852. [Class 141] An inflatable suit comprises inner and outer walls attached together at spaced points. As shown in Fig. 1, the suit, which is made of light rubberised cotton, comprises integral jacket portion a, trousers c and helmet e, the two walls being joined together at small circular areas g. The soles d<1> of the feet and the seat area at the back are non-inflatable. A reinforced area j and sleeve k, closed by rolling the end on a winding key and securing with a cord, are provided in the groin region. To close the front opening, there is provided a gusset, Fig. 6, having reinforcing patches n at the upper end through holes in which a tie cord o passes. Ties p are attached to the helmet by patches p<1>, and press fastener tabs q are provided for closing the opening. Drain tubes r, and tie laces r<1> are provided in the feet, Fig. 1. Each leg is provided with an opening s and a knee pocket u and each sleeve has a watertight rubber cuff t. An inflation tube v is provided on the left front. The areas of attachment g may be formed merely by adhering the two walls or may be formed by two discs sewn together.
