is intended for the armed .forces as a camouflage in snow, and other places.

The new and improved snow and rain protector garment fits over the trousers covering the legs up to the groin in the front and extends around up to the hips at the sides and around the back. With this arrangement the pockets of the regular pants are not inaccessible. They may be reached whenever desired. It is proposed that the garment have one seam and have no buttons or buckles. It requires only two pieces of material from which it'may be made in all sizes.

Another object of the invention is the construction of a garment as mentioned which is simple and durable and which may be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a snow and rain protector garment shown applied upona figure.

Fig. 3 is a fragmentar front elevational view of a snow and rain protector garment constructed in accordance with a modified form of this invention.

Fig. 5 is a fragmentary enlarged detailed view of a portion of Fig. 4.

The snow and rain protector garment, in accordance with that form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 includes a waterproof pants-like body I0 having a semi-circular front opening II which extends from the hips down and around to the groin. This garment i provided with a belt I2 by which it may be supported in position on a wearer. Elastic means I4 is mounted alongthe edges of the frontopening II for releasably holding said edges and permitting a wearer to reach the side and back'pockets of his regular pants.

The elastic means or element M is in the nature of an elastic cord housed within a hem I5 formed along the entire edge of the semi-circular front opening I I. The elastic element I4 continues around the back of the garment, within a hem portion formed along the back top edge of the garment, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 2. The belt I2 is inthe nature of straps attached ,to the hip portions of the pants-like body IE and adapted to extend around the front of'a wearer to be tied into a bow I6.

The snow and rain protector garment is intended to be worn by the armed forces. It is proposed that one side be white, and the other side be colored, so that it may be Worn as camouflage in snow and other places. The important feature of the garment resides in the provision of the semi-circular front opening I I. This opening makes the pockets of the regular pants of the garment accessible.

Moreover, the edge portion of the semi-circular front opening II may be gripped whenever desired and pulled outwards, the elastic strap I4 stretching to make it easy to reach the side and back pockets of the pants of a wearer.

The cuffs ll of the pants may be worn snugly inside boots or over-shoe s also plain or gathered by which a lace Fl is drawn through the cuffs at the front and extending around same which is stitched in back to prevent pulling out and each end of'the lace passes through two button-like holes I 1 about two inches apart where it can be tied into a bow. This lace may be used imme diately above the ankle or just below the calf depending on the type of boot or shoe with which it is worn. I

In Figs. 3 5 a modified form of the invention has been disclosed which distinguishes from the prior form in several ways. In this form of the invention the elastic strap I4 is laced through the edge portion of the semi-circular opening I I. The edge portion is formed with small holes, like buttonholes, through which the elastic strap I4 is laced. The pants-like body I0 is also formed with similar openings along the top edge of its back through which the elastic strap I4 is also laced. The elastic strap I4 has large free side sections I8, unlaced or free. The pants-like body I0 is provided with a belt which comprises strap sections I9. Each of these strap sections I9 has several buttonholes 20 near its inner end. Each hip portion of the pants-like body I is provided with a button 2| by which each strap section l9 may be connected with the hip portion. The ends of the belt sections [9, near the buttons 2|, are formed with socket portions 23 through which the large free sections l8 of the elastic strap 14 freely pass.

In other respects this form of the invention is similar to that previously shown and like reference numerals identify like parts in each of the several views.

This snow and rain protector is used substantially in the same way as the first described form of the invention. However, the wearer has a choice of letting out, or taking in the side ends of the belt sections I9 in respect to the buttons 2| which are fixedly mounted on the hip portions of the pants-like body ll].

This will control the slack, or tightness of the large free sections I8 of the elastic strap 14 and will control the snugness of the pants-like body I against the regular pants of a wearer. The wearer may so adjust the parts that is most convenient to reach the side and back pockets of his regular pants, without the protective garment being too loose so as to be uncomfortable for the reason that they tend to fall down.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:

1. An open garment, comprising a waterproof pants-like body having a semi-circular front opening extending from the hips down and around the groin, a belt for said pants-like body, and elastic means along the edges of said front opening for releasably holding said edges permitting a wearer to reach the side and back pockets of his pants.

2. An open garment, comprising a waterproof pants-like body having a semi-circular front opening extending from the hips down and around the groin, a belt for said pants-like body, and elastic means along the edges of said front opening for releasably holding said edges permitting a wearer to reach the side and back pockets of his pants, said pants-like body being white on one side and of another color on its other side.

3. An open garment, comprising a waterproof pants-like body having a semi-circular front opening extending from the hips down and around the groin, a belt for said pants-like body, andelastic means along the edges of said front opening for releasably holding said edges permitting a wearer to reach the side and back pockets of his pants, said belt comprising belt sections attached to the hip portions of said pants-like body.
