Description

Jan. 2G, 1948.
M. s. NEwcoMBE 2,434,714
GARMENT Filed sept. 2.6,` 1945 Patented Jan. 20, 1948 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2,434,714 GARMENT Marguerite S. Newcombe, Crystal Lake, Ill. Application September 26, 1945, Serial No. 618,710 1 claim. (o1. 2 227) This invention relates to a garment, such as a pair of trousers or the like having an adjustable nt and being easily donned and doifed.
The features of the new garment shown and described herein make it especially adaptable for snow suits, ski suits, skirts or dresses, and the like, as the t is adjustable to the wearer and the garment is easily donned and doied.
The garment has at least one marginal, longitudinal split with the edge portions of the split being overlapping in opposite directions around the wearer, and the split portions are provided with tapes for tying around the wearer.
The invention will be described as related to the typical embodiment of the same setout in the accompanying drawings. Oi the drawings, Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the front of the pair of trousers with the tapes hanging loose, and Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the rear of the trousers With the tapes tied.
The garment shown in the accompanying drawings embodying the features of this invention, is a pair of trousers lil having a front, longitudinal split Il extending down to the waist edge. Each edge portion of the split is in the form of a triangle l2. The triangular portions are designed to overlap when the garment is being worn and to extend a considerable distance around the wearer (Fig. 2). The waistline of the triangular portions l2 is provided with tapes i3 designed for passing around the waist of the wearer in opposite directions and tying in a knot I4 at the rear. As can be seen, this construction of the waist of the garment makes possible a snug fit that is suitable to size. It also makes the garment easy to don and doif.
The bottoms of the leg portions of the trousers are provided with longitudinal splits l5 extending up from the bottom of the leg portion on the outside of the leg. The bottom of 'the leg portion is also provided with tapes iii for passing around the leg of the wearer and tying. These tapes are also arranged to pass in opposite directions around the wearers leg.
Having described my invention as related to one embodiment of the same, it is my intention that the invention be not limited by any of the descriptive details unless otherwise specied, but rather be construed broadly within its spirit and scope as set out in the accompanying claim.
I claim:
A garment having a slit portion at one marginal edge thereof said slit extending only a part of the distance towards the opposite edge of the garment, said slit portion having substantially triangular-ly shaped overlapping edge portions adapted to exten-d considerable distances around the wearer in opposite directions, said distances of overlap being variable with the size of the wearer and means for securing said edge portions in place, comprising tapes attached to said edge portions and adapted to be passed around the wearer.
