Abstract
600,381. Lifting-apparatus. LAFFAILLE, B. Oct. 12, 1945, Nos. 26694 and 26695. Convention dates, Oct. 24, 1944, and Feb. 26, 1945. [Class 78 (iii)] Lifting-apparatus for heavy loads comprises a fixed column 1 having ratchet teeth 2, plates 3, 4 connected by a sleeve 5, the lower plate 3 being secured to the load 14 to be raised, a plate 6 slidable along the sleeve 5 between the upper and lower plates 3, 4, lifting jacks 12 mounted on the plate 6, locking fingers 7, 8 carried by the plates 3, 6 respectively and engaging the teeth 2 under the action of springs 9, and return springs 13 placed between the plates 3, 6. On operating the jacks 12, the plate 4 is raised and through the medium of sleeve 5 and plate 3, carries with it the load 14. The locking fingers 7 on the plate 3 prevent downward movement. The jacks are then brought back to the starting position and during their retraction the springs 13 raise the plate 6 and the operation is repeated. In a modification shown in Fig. 9, there is only one lifting jack 121 which rests on the central column 1<1>. The jack thrusts a plate 4<1> upwards and causes the raising of the load through the medium of lateral racks 18 and locking fingers 8<1> carried by a plate 6<1> which is integral with a lower plate 31 carrying the load.
