Abstract
6 0 0,2 6 8. Electrode furnaces. SOC. ANON. DES MANUFACTURES DES GLACES ET PRODUITS CHIMIQUES DE ST.-GOBAIN, CHAUNY, & CIREY. March 12, 1945, No. 6200. Convention date, Aug. 6, 1942. [Class 39(iii)] An electric furnace in which a horizontal series of pairs of opposed electrodes CC<1>, DD<1>, EEl &c. extend from opposite longitudinal walls, is characterised by the distance between the free ends of the electrodes of each pair being at all times less than the length of the inwardly projecting portion of an electrode of a pair and also less than the distance between two adjacent pairs of electrodes, means being provided to create a difference of potential across each pair of electrodes and between adjacent pairs of electrodes. Specification 593,513, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of two or more horizontal series of electrodes. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
