Abstract

600,157. Friction gearing. DEBRIE, A. L. V. C. Sept. 28, 1945, No. 25284. Convention date, July 12, 1943. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Group XX] In a friction drive in which the force between the frictionally engaged surfaces is provided by the weight carried by one of the engaging members, one of the engaged surfaces is covered with an absorbent soaked with lubricant. In the form shown as applied to a kinematograph spool drive, the hollow driving shaft 1 carries a drum 2 at'its end. The driven shaft 3 engages inside at one end in barrel-shaped portion 7 and carries at its other end a drum 8 and squared end on which the spool is mounted. The absorbent felt or cloth 9, is carried in a groove 10 in the drum 8 and its ends are carried through a slot in the drum and anchored by a spring.
