Abstract

539,361. Clutches. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., MARTIN, N. H., and MITCHELL, K. March 5, 1940, No. 4093. [Class 80 (ii)] A helical spring 29 encircling a bush 18 fixed to a driven shaft 10 is secured at one end to a driving wheel 28 by a screw 14 mounted in a boss 12 on the wheel the other end of the spring being anchored in a slot in a sleeve 13 rotatably mounted on the boss 12 to which is attached a flat circular armature 30. When the electromagnet 25 is energized the spring grips the bush. The electromagnet is secured to the bush 18 by a screw 11 and may be adjusted axially and angularly. A collar 15 is screwed into one end of the spring and the screw 14 grips the spring against the collar.
