Abstract

840,532. Hand winches. TREWHELLA BROS. PROPRIETARY Ltd., and TREWHELLA, B. H. Dec. 16, 1957, No. 39108/57. Class 78 (5). The winding drum 3 of a venetian blind is driven directly by handle 7 and at the same time is braked by spring 12. The spring is secured at one end to casing 1 fixed on a wall, and at the other end engages frictionally internal wall 14 of the drum. The braking effect is sufficient to prevent reverse rotation of the drum under the load of the blind, but not sufficient to prevent rotation by means of the handle. The load therefore on the end may be raised easily because the friction of the spring is diminished and when the winding up is stopped the full effect of the spring comes into play to prevent the load falling. The said cord wound on the drum 3 is passed through aperture 4 and secured by clamping- plate 5.
