Abstract

622,335. Clothes-lines. ZAUGG, H. March 11, 1947, No. 6773. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1946. [Class 52 (v)] A device for suspending washing comprises a rotatable rope carrying member which is spring- controlled to effect an automatic winding up of the rope. As shown a casing 1 houses a hollow shaft 8 surrounding a rod 6 having a rectangular extension fitting in a disc 4. A spring 7 is connected between the shaft 8 and the rod 6. Fixed to the rod 6 is a locking disc surrounding the rectangular extension and having recesses in which engage pawls pivoted to the shaft 8. Pairs of flanges 13a, 13b, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b, form reels for ropes 16, 17, 18 the opposite ends of the ropes being attached to a member 20 provided with securing hooks 22. If the pull on the ropes is interrupted the pawls prevent the spring from rewinding the ropes which it will do if the pull is released. The flange 15b is provided with radial slots which may be engaged by a pin 25 to prevent the ropes being withdrawn too far when in use.
