Abstract

658,472. Fishing reels. HARDY BROS. (ALNWICK), Ltd., and HARDY, L. R. Oct. 13, 1949, No. 26315. [Class 48] A spring latch 4 for detachably retaining the drum 1 of a fishing reel on its fixed spindle 2 by engaging a circumferential groove 2a therein is provided on its finger piece 4a with a projecting part 4b covering the opening 3b in the end cover 3 through which the finger piece 4a projects. The projecting part 4b is preferably in the form of a curved finger extending from one side of the finger piece. The latch is pivoted about a rivet 6 securing the end cover 3 to the drum, a spacing element 4c keeping the latch flat against the drum. A spring 5 urges the latch into the groove on the spindle.
