Abstract

600,042. Drying boards or sheets. SPOONER, W. W. Sept. 7, 1945, No. 23069. [Class 34(ii)] A method of drying fibrous boards in which the boards or sheets of fibrous material are conveyed past drying streams of hot air or gas of high velocity, and then subsequently conveyed past further similar drying streams of lower velocity. In a preferred apparatus, Fig. 1A, boards are led through one or more drying chambers 2 by an endless woven wire conveyer belt 1, in which hot air from chambers 3 and 4 are directed by nozzles against the boards. This air is preheated by heaters 5 and 6 provided with steam heated tubes 9, and recirculated. Finally the boards are led between plates 11 on belt conveyer 12 through dryer 13, Fig. 1B, and subjected to drying air at a lower velocity, whilst disposed on edge.
