599,710. Photographic processes. TECHNICOLOR MOTION PICTURE CORPORATION. Sept. 18, 1945, No. 24090. Convention date, March 3. [Class 98 (ii)] The apparatus for use in imbibition printing or in transferring a picture layer from one film to another comprises a set of film guiding rollers mounted on a pair of juxtaposed shafts the axes of which are inclined so that the loops of an endless belt trained around the rollers in an orbital path do not overlap, means for feeding films to the belt at successive locations along a portion of the path which extends away from one end of the rollers and thence back to the first end and means for removal of the films from the belt. As shown, an endless pin belt 7 is looped around juxtaposed drums 3, 4, the axes of which lie in horizontal planes and are relatively inclined to allow the belt to travel from one end of the drums to the other and thus to prevent overlap of the successive loops. From the drums the belt passes round rollers 10, 5 to be similarly looped around drums 1, 2 from whence it returns to the drums 3, 4. Between the two pairs of drums, a film F and a printing matrix M are fed to the pin belt and make contact therewith in a tank 6 of water, the films being carried along the path of the pin belt before their removal therefrom by a roller 13, above which the films F and M are separated.
