Abstract

599,498. Discharge lamps. LUMALAMPAN AKTIEBOLAG. Jan. 29, 1945, No. 2236. Convention date, July 12, 1943. [Class 39 (i)] In a discharge device with gas and/or vapour filling, especially a fluorescent lamp, the electrodes consist of coiled or coiled coil filaments 4 and are activated by an alkaline earth metal compound in the form of a coating applied solely at the points 3, 5 where the filaments 4 are secured to the leading-in wires 2, G, and the coating is supported on discs, bowls, or sleeves 8, 9 ; the electrodes 4 are directly heated at least during starting, but may be directly heated or self-heated during operation. In addition, the fastened ends of the electrodes 4 may be wound with a metal netting or thin coiled wire if relatively large quantities of emissive substance are used. The inside of the envelope may be provided with a fluorescent coating and the filling is mercury and a suitable gas mixture. Specification 434,276 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a modified form in which the supports 8, 9, are dispensed with. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
