Abstract

A printing ink comprises a suspension of a pigment in a vehicle comprising a natural or synthetic resin, dissolved in a liquid polyglycol, and pine oil or mono-terpenyl-ethylene glycol ether the latter substances being present in approximately 7-15 per cent of the total weight of the ink. Rosins, rosin modified dibasic acid resins and urea formaldehyde resins are specified in the following compositions: (1) sodium rosinate varnish, Milori Blue, carbon black, calcium carbonate diethylene glycol, and pine oil; (2) as in (1) the rosinate being replaced by a rosin modified with an alpha beta unsaturated acid as described in U.S.A. Specification 2,063,542; (3) as in (1) the resin being a urea-formaldehyde resin; (4) as in (1) using triethanolamine rosinate and (5)-(10) specify similar compositions employing monoterpenyl ethylene glycol ether and phthalocyanine Blue, Chrome Yellow, and Lake Red C as colouring matter.
