Abstract

A printing ink comprises an anhydrous mixture of a water soluble solid phenol-formaldehyde or urea-formaldehyde resin, a diethylene glycol such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol or dipropylene glycol, and a pigment. In examples: (1) phenol formaldehyde resin prepared with the incorporation of sufficient alkali to render the product water soluble is dissolved in ethylene glycol and carbon black and violet and blue tones added; (2) A spray dried water soluble urea formaldehyde resin is dissolved in di-ethylene glycol and Rhodomine Red and Toluidine Red pigments are added.
