Abstract

Shaped textile articles such as nylon stockings are placed on forms and carried by an endless conveyor through a pre-boarding or plasticizing chamber in which they are subjected to the action of live steam and heat, and are subsequently artificially cooled whilst still on the forms. The forms may be cooled by spraying them with cold water or cold air, by circulating cold air through a drying chamber, or by means of a cooling medium flowing through pipes arranged within the drying chamber.
