Abstract

597,761. Conductor points. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES, Ltd., LONDON PASSENGER TRANSPORT BOARD, BROOM, T. C., and WILKINSON, T. Aug. 25, 1945, No. 21859. [Class 104(iii)] An overhead - conductor switch frog for electrictraction systems is operated when a solenoid 29, Fig. 3 releases a spring 34 holding trigger 20 in engagement with a cam 15 which is rotated by a spring 35 and coupled to the frog. Solenoid 29 is actuated from a contact engaged by a collector whenever a passing vehicle has its controller in the "on" position. After leaving the frog, the collector engages a second contact to actuate solenoid 30 which rotates cam 15 to re-set the frog. The frog may also be actuated by hand from a rope thimble 81 coupled to a chain 78 passing round a pulley 79 on the frog pivot 9 and connected to a lever 71 having a spring 77 and an arm 72 which engages the trigger arm 26. The frog may be re-set by hand from a rope thimble 67 coupled to a lever 63 rotating loosely on the spindle 11 of cam 15, the lever being connected to a spring 65 and having an arm which engages cam 15. In a modification, Fig. 6, only one solenoid 29 is employed, the frog and cam 15 being re-set by the collector engaging a roller 112 carried by a. forked arm and coupled by a spring connection 103 to a rod 89 attached to an arm 87 carried by cam 15, the rotation of the cam to set the frog moving the roller into the path of the collector; the roller-arm may also be operated by hand from a thimble 116.
