Abstract

947,855. Railway points. D. HERON. March 14, 1960 [March 16, 1959], No. 9016/59. Heading E1G. Relates to a railway point or switch control mechanism in which a member, mechanically coupled to the points, is moved from one position to the other by operation of a hand lever in the same direction from a rest position. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2 a forked lever F is moved between guide pins P by a vertical pivoted hand lever J engaged in a slot H. The position of the points, connected by rods to an arm C driven by a segment A, is changed by moving the forked lever F to engage one of its prongs G with a depression E to rotate the segment A. During this movement the other prong G rides up a face cam so as not to engage a diametrically opposed depression E in the segment A. The points are held in the changed position, when the forked lever is returned to its normal position, by an overcentre toggle arrangement formed by a spring D and the arm C.
