596,720. Joints for concrete pipes. FOLEY, H. E., and HUME PIPE CO. (AUSTRALIA), Ltd. July 31, 1945, No. 19719. [Class 99 (i)] A branch joint for concrete pipes is made by forming an aperture in the wall of the main pipe 6, the aperture having an inner portion 9 of diameter equal to the internal diameter of the junction piece 7 and a stepped shoulder 13, the surface of which is not plane but concentric with the main pipe, and then inserting the junction piece, the inner end of which is complementarily curved, into the cavity 11 formed above the shoulder, the cavity being large enough to provide an annular space around the junction piece into which jointing material 12 is introduced.
