596,487. Apparatus for flushing gully pots. SCAMMELL LORRIES, Ltd., HUGH, P. G., HALL, W. F., and ROBINSON, J. S. July 27, 1945, No. 19250. [Class 33] [Also in Groups X, XXI and XXVIII] A silt stirring device for use with a gullyemptying apparatus comprises a pump mounted on the chassis of a vehicle for pumping liquid under pressure through a flexible pipe 27 and a valve 28 to an annulus 21 situated near the end of a suction pipe 6. Through orifices 22 in the annulus 21 issue jets of liquid which disintegrate the sludge 23 at the bottom of the gully pot 24. The liquid under pressure is supplied at a lower rate than that at which the suction pump withdraws the contents of the gully pot. The pumps are controlled by suitably placed switch gear 25 and 26. Various annuli, having different arrangements of jets may be fitted at the end of the suction pipe. Specification 596,486, [Group XXIX], is referred to.
