Abstract
596,355. Vehicle wheels. BIRD, F., and TAMKIN, E. Aug. 31, 1945, No. 22426. [Class 144 (i)] A tractor wheel is adapted for use on roads by means of an endless metal band 4 which is fitted with spaced internal plates arranged to engage the wheel strakes 3 on forward rotation, the band being assembled (or dismounted) by sideway movement over the jacked-up wheel, As shown, the plates are constituted by arch-formations on a ring 6 welded to the road-band 4. To prevent rearward slip, the ring 6 is fitted with a channel 12 which is positioned to straddle one of the strakes and has registering apertures 13 to receive a locking-pin.
