Abstract
595,812. Resilient mountings. LORD MANUFACTURING CO. July 6, 1945, No. 17338. Convention date, July 11, 1944. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A mounting for mutually attaching two relatively movable members comprises a pair of plates 5, 6 having a body 7 of resilient material bonded to their opposed faces, a casing 14, 20 formed for attachment to one of the members and fixedly engaging one of the plates (5) and having sliding frictional engagement with the other plate (6) which is formed to have fixed engagement with the other member. As shown applied to the support of a radial aircraft engine cowl 1, the plate 5 is secured to a portion 14 of the casing which is integral with a plate 10 secured to the cowl 1. A flange 11 of the casing portion 20 carries a friction disc 25 engaging the plate 6. A pin 4 rigidly secured to the engine 2 and to the plate 6 has a shoulder locating a securing nut 33. A washer spaced between the nut 33 and the sandwich plate 5 and having frictional engagement with the latter, comprises metal rings 30, 32 separated by a rubber annulus 31, the compression of which is limited by a central ring 34 of less thickness. Interchangeable packing rings 21 enable the pressure between plates 6, 11 to be adjusted.
