Abstract

595,741. Stuffing-boxes. JARAY, F. F., and TANKS & LININGS, Ltd. (formerly TANK LININGS, Ltd.). June 20, 1945, No. 15673. [Class 122 (v)] A stuffing-box for a fermenting vessel downpipe comprises a gland, a split bush forming the bottom of the box and a packing therebetween which before compression is spaced both from the box and the part to be sealed. The arrangement facilitates removal of the packing and cleaning. A ball or other bearing may be incorporated or otherwise connected with the bush.
