Abstract

595,373. Endless-belt conveyers. BOBST ET FILS SOC. ANON., J. March 20. 1945, No. 7046. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1943. [Class 78(i)] In machines for folding and pressing pieces of cardboard to make boxes of the kind in which the pieces are carried between two pairs of endless belts, each pair of which is composed of a lower belt and an upper belt, the leading pulleys carrying the front ends of the upper belts are mounted on overhanging shaft ends to facilitate removal and replacement of the belts. The pulley 8, Fig. 4, which supports and drives the upper belt 10, Fig. 2, is fast on the end of a shaft 38. The pulley 34 for the lower belt of the pair is fast on a shaft 3 and is secured to a gear 36 which meshes with a gear 37 fast on the shaft 38. The pulleys are mounted on a common support 39 and the gearing is protected by a metal sheet 40. A screw 41 is provided by which the pressure exerted by the spring 42 on the pulley 8 can be varied. The support 39 can be displaced along the shaft 3<1> to suit the size of box being made. The pulley 7 for the belt 9 at the other side of the machine and the pulleys 11, 12 for the pressure belts 13, 14 are mounted in a similar. manner. The lower shafts 3<1>, 4<1> also are overhung.
