Abstract
595,312. Pulse generating circuits. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. Oct. 24, 1944, No. 20671. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1943. Addition to 585,359. [Class 40 (v)] In a modification of the pulse-generating system described in the parent Specification, in which upon the flow of current in an inductor 18, being interrupted, the energy is transferred to a condenser 20 and suddenly discharged through the load 10, a saturable inductor 33 is used to transfer the energy from the condenser 20 to the load 10. A polarising magnetic force is applied to saturate the core of the inductor 33, magnetizing it in the same sense as the discharged current of condenser 20, the inductor passing to the opposite saturation region, while the energy is being stored inductively prior to transfer to condenser 20 and back again when the transfer is complete to cause the discharge of the condenser through the load circuit, thereby increasing the amount of energy stored inductively. Inductor 33 is provided with a bias winding 32 fed with current from battery 34 through choke 35. In a further modification, Fig. 2, (not shown), to avoid using a separate winding, the bias current may be passed through the main winding. Alternatively, Fig. 3, (not shown), to avoid using both a secondary winding and battery the condenser 36 may be shunted by a resistance. U.S.A. Specification 2,063,342 is referred to.
