Abstract
<PICT:0595055/III/1> Apparatus for contacting fluids with finely divided solids, e.g., such processes as cracking hydrocarbon oils as described in Specification 589,130, comprises a reactor 24, a shallow cup like vessel 10 supported in the lower part of the reactor and spaced therefrom by supports 26 and provided with pipes 18 and 14 for introducing the fluids and solids respectively, excess solid flowing over the vessel 10 into the space 28 and being removed by pipes 42. As shown the upper part of the reactor may communicate directly through a passage 37 provided with baffles 36 with a regenerator 12 to which the reacted finely divided solids are passed through pipes 54, 56, the particles being supported by a grid 58 and overflowing through pipe 68 back to the reactor. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the regenerator is arranged alongside and separate from the reactor.
