Abstract

594,842. Windscreen wipers. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. July 2, 1945, No. 16786. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1944. [Class 138 (i)] A windscreen wiper blade comprises an inner ply 8, Figs. 2 and 4, of rubber or the like which is normally in contact with the screen and outer plies 9 also of rubber or the like, but of lower friction coefficient, separated from the ply 8 by spacers 10. In the event of only slight wetness of the screen, causing excessive clinging of the ply 8 to the screen, which would normally slow down the movement of the blade, the forwardly-disposed ply 9 comes into wiping operation as in Fig. 4, thereby reducing the amount of cling by bearing part of the force with which the wiper is pressed against the screen, so that the operation of the wiper is not retarded.
