[Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] In a cooling ,system in which coolant is supplied independently to the cylinder jacket and cylinder head, a gallery pipe extends along one side of the engine and has calibrated openings to the head and barrel jackets which are also connected by holes in contacting walls, As shown, the gallery pipes 13 are connected by passages 16 to the cylinder head jackets and by holes 18, drilled through bosses 22 to the barrel jackets, the holes in the bosses being subsequently plugged. The gallery pipes 13 are fed by a Y feed pipe. Cooling water is also supplied to one end of the cylinder jackets 11 and leaves by an outlet 20 at one end of the induction pipe water jacket.
