593,420. Hooks. LINDSAY, Ltd., H., LINDSAY, H., and GIBSON, W. L. Oct. 14, 1944, No. 19884. [Class 89 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Clips for securing articles to or supporting them from the flanges of beams have hooks with inclined jaws that engage the edges of the flanges. As applied to supporting cables in mines from arched roof supports, hooks 1, Fig. 4, have the jaws 3 inclined to suit the angle of the flanges 2 and transversely rounded at 4, Fig. 2, to render the hooks selflocking. The points of the hooks may have a rounded projection to give localised engagement with the flange in all directions. An eye 5 may support a wire hook or cable sling or such, a hook 8 may be suspended from hooks 1 on opposed flanges. The eye may be formed on an extended shank or such shank may be bolt-like to support an insulator, or may terminate in two opposed rigid hook supports. The hook 8 may be shaped to support a number of cables 9 and may have a pivoted wire mousing piece engaging in the point. A supporting hook on one flange may be anchored by a smaller hook on the other flange, the two hooks being connected by a coiled spring such as 15, Fig. 6. The point of the hook may be tapped for a set screw 12 and this may carry a lock-nut 13 and clip 14 for securing cables &c 9 longitudinally of the beams.
