Abstract

1,250,015. Clamps for pipes and cables. TRW Inc. 1 Nov., 1968 [6 Nov., 1967], No. 51952/68. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] A hanger incorporating a clamp for pipes or cables consists of a U-shaped metal strap 16 which is adjustably secured, via a member such as 52 upstanding from and welded to its central portion, to a bracket (not shown) depending from an overhead support, and has a plurality of elongated apertures 26, 28, 30 in each of its depending legs 24 for the reception of a bar 18 which is passed through opposed apertures in the two legs and then bent downwardly at 36, its other end having previously been bent at 34, the arrangement thus enabling pipes of differing sizes to be retained in the strap 16 and gripped between diagonal portions 22 of the strap and the bar 18, a pipe 32 of maximum size being indicated in broken lines. The welded member 52 preferably includes a threaded portion which is engaged by an internally threaded support or by an internally threaded sleeve which in turn engages a threaded support in the manner of a turnbuckle, so that height adjustment of the pipe may be effected. Alternatively, the upstanding member may be an apertured bar which is adjustably bolted to a support bar either directly or via an intermediate bar to enable the pipe to be located at one of a number of discrete heights.
