Abstract

1454021 Shelving L MASLOW 7 Jan 1974 [13 June 1973] 00713/74 Heading A4B [Also in Division F2] A shelving structure includes a shelf comprising a generally rectangular planar member 12 having depending comer portions 40, 84, 86 at each corner, connectors 22 at each corner which each threadedly receive screws 30 passed through a clamping bar 28 and the corner portion to clamp the latter between the connectors 22 and the bar 28, the connectors and/or the bar being recessed to receive a corner portion, and the connector including an upwardly tapering base 26 which receives a support post 50. The shelf is fitted at adjustable height on the post 50 by means of a two part tapering sleeve 60 which clamps around the post 50 under the shelf load when the connector bore 26 receives the sleeve 60. In one embodiment, Figs. 2, 6, 8 the shelf is formed from a sheet metal blank bent to define the corner portions, depending peripheral flanges, and a peripheral bend 18. In another embodiment, Figs. 19, 22, the planar shelf member is formed as a grid of longitudinal and transverse wires 112, 114, the peripheral flanges and corner portions being defined by further wires 112, 116. The bent ends 112a, 114a of peripheral wires 112, 114 are clamped in recesses defined in the clamping bars 28' and corner connectors 22'.
