Abstract
593,223. Hair curlers. JARRETT, RAINSFORD, & LAUGHTON, Ltd., and LAUGHTON, G. A. July 5, 1945, No. 17246. [Class 131] A hair curler comprises an inner member 4, on which the hair is coiled, pivoted at one end of a loop-shaped outer member 2 in which it is retained by a sliding device 6 mounted at the end of the loop remote from the pivot, the free ends of the loop being bent towards the closed end and into the embrace of the sliding device which holds the side limbs together as well as forming a retaining means. The member 4 may comprise a single or double arm and has projections 8 which engage with depressions 9 in the sliding device 6, and is pivotally mounted by the scroll 5 on the transverse bar 1 forming the closed end of the loop 2. The sliding device comprises a flattened collar 6 with depressions 7 between the sides of the narrowed neck 3 of the loop and the inwardly recurved ends so that removal of the retaining means from the loop is prevented. In modifications the recurved portions may be directed outwards or be bent inwards at right angles and then towards the closed end of the loop in overlapping relation.
