Abstract

608,139. Hair-curling appliances. WORMINGTON, M. L. Sept. 21, 1945, No. 24563. Convention date, May 18. [Class 131] A hair curler comprises an inner tubular member 1 adapted to be held with its inner end against the head, and an outer tubular member 5 removably fitted on the inner member to receive and hold from uncoiling the hair wound on the inner member. and having means to keep the members from rotating and tilting. The hair is coiled on the lower reduced end of the inner member 1 being passed through one of the notches 4 formed between the head-contacting portions 2, 3 of the member 1 and the outer member 5 is slipped over the inner member the slot 1a providing a resilient fit between the upper cylindrical parts of the members. Rotation of the outer member causes a portion of the hair between the curler and the scalp to enter the slots 8 formed between the prongs 7 and the outer member 5 to prevent rotation and tilting of the members. In a modification the outer member is in two parts the lower part having three prongs, and being rotatably mounted in the upper part.
