Abstract

784,748. Hair curlers. DINGER G. and LANGLEY. A. E. Jan. 10, 1956 [Oct. 20, 1954], No. 21058/54. Class 131 A hair curler comprises a rod 20 slidable and rotatable within a body 16 on which the hair is wound, a hair-retaining member 25, integral with one end of the rod, overlying the body when the rod is fully disposed in the body in which position relative rotation is prevented by locking means. A lock of hair, wound on the body when the retaining member has been moved from its overlying position by withdrawing the rod to the extent allowed by the abutment 21 in the bore 17 is prevented from unwinding by pushing the rod back into the body until a serrated locking member 22 engages a serrated recess 18. The retaining member has a rubber or plastic sleeve 26 and the body has a gauze covering 6. In a modification the body is formed by concentric tubes, the outer one of which is apertured and gauze-covered, and the locking recess is formed in a plug in the outer tube.
