Abstract

921,911. Hair-curling appliances. S. RICHE. Nov. 4, 1959 [Nov. 21, 1958], No. 37509/58. Class 131. An implement used in a method of curling hair, in which a straightened tress is enclosed in a flexible tube 2 which is flattened and rolled from end to end, comprises a handle 3, and a body 4 which is passed through the tube to engage the tress by its hooked end 5 and draw the tress through the tube, the implement being removed from the tube. A slot 8 in the handle is then engaged over the end of the tube enclosing the tip end of the tress, flattening the tube, and the tube rolled on the handle, towards the scalp where it is secured by a spring clip 7 &c. The tube may have an absorbent-lining and is formed of paper, nylon net, rubber or plastic, which may be perforated, the hair, or the lining which may be detachable for use once only, being damped with water, shampoo, setting or waving lotions before or after insertion in the tube. A slider 6 may be provided to grip the tip of the tress and an adapter may be provided to take over the handle to increase the size of curl, a slot 10 and inward projections 9 in the adapter registering with the slot 8.
