Abstract

359,683. Hair - curling appliances. SCHULZ, A., Heidelberg, Germany. Oct. 9, 1930, No. 30273. [Class 131.] In hair wavers or curlers of the kind comprising a shank upon which the hair is wound and a rubber loop attached to one end of the shank and adapted to be detachably secured to the other end, the shank is formed of rubber tubing or rod so that it can flex or arch when in use in order to conform to the shape of the head. The rubber loop B, Fig. 1, may be attached to one end of the shank A either directly, or indirectly through a knob a, and may either be provided with a pin b adapted to be inserted in a hole c provided in the other end of the shank, or be adapted to be twisted round a groove at the other end of the shank. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, a rubber band is passed through the shank A so as to form at one end the loop B, the other end of the band being provided with a button or ball d. In a further modification, a flexible wire passes through the shank and is formed at one end with an eye to which the rubber loop is attached, the other end of the wire being provided with an eye around which the free end of the loop is passed.
