[Class 131] In a hair curler having an elongated wire frame a, b and a hair retaining device pivoted to one transverse end c so that it can be locked in hair-curling position by a slider h on the neck g formed at the other end of the frame, the hair retaining device comprises a pair of members q, r of rounded crosssection wire. The members are formed from a length of wire by bending, closing the ends by brazing or welding or by the cap p. and bending again at t and s so that the cranked member r lies within the member q at the hinge t. In modifications the crank at s and the neck e may be dispensed with the transverse c being straight or crimped or arranged at the opposite end of the frame. The ends k of the frame may be brazed or welded together or may be enclosed in a sleeve m or in a coil spring: The sides of the neck g may be bowed and crimped to define the positions where the slider h engages and disengages the members q, r.
