Abstract

607,175. Hair curlers. LITTLE, E., and LITTLE, E. C. Jan. 29, 1946, No. 2802. [Class 131] In a hair curler of the kind having a hair-clamping member on which the hair is wound and a retaining member, the clamping member is formed of sheet material bent to form two diverging limbs 10 and further bent at the junction between the limbs to form a slot 11 in which is slidably mounted the trunnion 12 of the wire retaining member which is also provided with an abutment portion intermediate its length, the free ends of the clamping member being engaged by and disengaged from the end of the retaining member, remote from the trunnion by sliding movement of the trunnion 12 in the loop 11. The side limbs 13 of the retaining member are bent to form abutments 14 against which the members 10 are pressed when their ends are engaged by the tubular member 15 joining the extremities of the limbs 13. In modifications the tubular member 15 is replaced by a single sheet metal member or is dispensed with the ends of the retaining member being approximated to provide a locking bar. The Provisional Specification describes a retaining member which does not have abutment portions 14.
