Abstract

692,459. Hair curling appliances. TUMMLER. H. Mav 30, 1951 [May 30, 1950], No. 12793/51. Class 131 A curler for short hair comprises a tube containing two locking levers each pivoted intermediate its ends on a common hinge pin connected to the tube and each provided, at one end, with a finger grip portion projecting beyond the end of the tube, and at the other end, with an outwardly projecting hook which is withdrawn when the finger grips are pressed together. As shpwn, the tube 1 is apertured at 4 to receive a'hinge pin 10 for the locking levers 8. When the finger grips 6 are released hook parts 9 of the levers are urged by a coil spring on the hinge pin to project through slots 3 in the tube to have a wedging action on the root part of a truss of hair coiled on the curler which in use is positioned with its longitudinal axis normal to the scalp.
