Abstract
389,764. Hair-curling appliances. COAKLEY, A. A. and COAKLEY, F., 88, Woodstock Avenue, Golders Green, London. Oct. 17, 1932, No. 28963. [Class 131.] A hair waving and curling device comprises a core 10 around which a damp tress is wound, an extension piece 13 with respect to which the core is axially rotatable, and a clamping member 16 pivoted to the extension piece about an axis transverse to the axis of the core, the clamping member comprising an open-sided cage adapted to enclose the core, and the walls of which may be sprung to and from each other to adjust the grip of the cage on the tress. The extension piece 13 is provided at the inner end with a flange over which is swaged the end 15 of a cap 11 secured to the core. The cage comprises a back member 17 connected by spaced ribs 19 to two front members 18, the member 17 being extended to form wings 21 pivotally connected to the piece 13 by a rivet 22. The core 10 may comprise a tube provided with perforations to facilitate the drying of the tress, and may be provided with a spring finger 25, the end of which engages in a recess 26, for for securing the end of the tress. The core projects beyond the end of the cage to afford a finger grip for effecting relative rotation of the cage and the core to tighten the wound tress.
