Abstract

398,749. Hair-curling appliances. TUTTLE, W. R. and STICKEL, C. W., 77, South Avenue, Rochester, New York, U.S.A. March 22, 1933, No. 8610. [Class 131.] In an eyelash curler of the kind described in Specification 336,872, [Class 131, Toilet &c.], in which the eyelashes are engaged between a fixed jaw 8 and a rubber strip carried by a slidable jaw 9 of channel form, the rubber strip 12, Fig. 4, is provided with an initially formed longitudinal groove 13 for engagement with the operative edge of the jaw 8, so that the eyelashes are curled with the exertion of a minimum pressure and the danger of breaking or plucking out the hairs is reduced. The jaw 8 is formed of a metal strip affixed at opposite ends to parallel bars 11 connected by arms 3 to a lever 1 provided with a finger loop 2, and the jaw 9, which is provided with sleeves 10 engaging the bars 11, is connected by a link 7 to an operating lever 4 provided with a finger loop 5 and pivoted to the lever 1 at 15.
