Abstract
442,220. Hair - curling appliances. MANSENCAL, E., 29, Rue Guillemont, Paris. July 30, 1934, No. 22220. Convention date, Aug. 9, 1933. [Class 131] A hair curler 1 of the kind on which a tress of hair is wound during permanent waving is provided at the end with a helix 2 inclined at between 65‹ and 80‹ to the axis of the curler and adapted to engage and secure the root end of the tress. The helix may be integral with, and of less diameter than, the curler, and may be provided with an enlarged terminal 2b. In a modification, the helix is provided at the end of a sleeve adapted to detachably engage the end of the curler. In a further modification, a flexible tongue of leather or the like is pivoted to the portion 2a of the curler immediately preceding the helix, the tongue, in use, being positioned over the first turn of the tress and overlapped by the succeeding turn. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also a curler 1, Fig. 9 (Cancelled), in which the root of the tress is secured by a pin 7 extending parallel to the axis of the curler and carried by a rotatable member 11 forming part of a ratchet device used for tightening the wound tress. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
