Abstract
592,927. Rotary dust separators. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., EVANS, R. H., and SPARKS, C. H. June 13, 1945, No. 14980. [Class 23] Dust-laden gas introduced at 5 passes to the axial inlet 10 of a radially-bladed fan 22. The gas is discharged from the blades into a chamber where a whirling velocity is maintained by radial blades 21. Separated particles pass out to a hopper 8 through annular passages between the wall 11 and the ring 24 and between the rings 24, 25 and 26. The outer layer of gas in which the remaining dust is concentrated is taken off through an annular outlet 14 and is led to electrostatic, multi-cyclone or other gascleaning apparatus. The clear air is discharged at 6. In place of the rings 24, 25, 26, axially extending overlapping vanes may be used.
