[Class 27] The mechanism which usually actuates a gas cut-off valve is arranged instead to operate a shutter or shutters associated with two indicators, one for showing credit and the other debit, so that the appropriate one of the two indicators is exposed according to whether the mechanism is in credit or debit and the other masked. As shown a duplex shutter k is carried on the end of a lever pivoted at n to move vertically in front of a pair of indicators i and j showing respectively credit and debit. Attached to the opposite end of the lever is a rod q with a projection bearing on the periphery' of a cam s under the action of a spring t. The cam s is driven by a geneva motion v, similar to that usually provided for actuating the gas valve control mechanism and driven in opposite directions by the prepayment and meter mechanisms through an epicyclic quantity mechanism. The drive to the indicators is taken from the driving element of the geneva motion by way of gears f, g and h. As the mechanism passes through zero credit in either direction, the cam s moves the shutter up or down to expose the appropriate indicator i or j and mask the other.
