Abstract
592,565. Hydraulic couplings. BUGATTI, E. May 22, 1945, No. 12789. Convention date, Aug. 22, 1942. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXVII and XXXIII] In a power transmission system of the kind for multiple motive unit plants in which a hydraulic clutch or coupling is interposed between each motive unit 1, 39, and a common driven shaft 16, the hydraulic clutches 11, 46, are grouped in a common casing 8, which is used as a reservoir for the supply of clutch operating liquid and also contains a common pump 29 for supplying operative liquid from the said supply to the hydraulic clutches via pipes 30, 33 and 34. The shaft 16 has a conical gear 25 which meshes with a crown wheel 26, rigid with the common torque receiving member (not shown). Embodiments with other arrangements of motive unit plants are described and illustrated.
