592,152. Electric induction furnaces. DREYFUS, L., and ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. May 23, 1945, No. 12844. [Class 39 (iii)] In an induction furnace comprising a melting channel 1 and a chamber 5 with a central magnetic core 2, an auxiliary pole 6 is provided at the point where the melting channel branches to improve circulation of the melt. The auxiliary pole 6 may form part of the main magnetic circuit and may have an auxiliary winding 7. The winding 7, if provided, is so connected that the field produced by the pole 6 is of the same frequency and substantially the same phase as the heating field. The co-operation between this field and the heating field produces electro-dynamic forces acting on the melt to produce a flow in the direction indicated by the arrows.
